Notes - Crash course to Philosophy

Today in Western Civ we took more notes, on Crash course to Philosophy. Mr. Schick told us his coffee shop story. Here are some of the notes: Metaphysics -  the branch of philosophy that studies the nature of reality  Epistemology -  the branch of philosophy that studies the nature and scope of knowledge  Value Theory  Ethics -  the branch of philosophy that studies and evaluates human conduct  Aesthetics -  the branch of philosophy that studies the nature of beauty  Synchronicity -  things in time join  Deja Vu How do I know I am right? How will I ever know that I am wrong? Can I ever be certain about anything? Is there any reason I should treat strangers differently from the people I love?

Today in Western Civ. we took notes on a crash course to philosophy. Here are some of the notes.  What is the very nature of reality,  Why do you do what you do, why do you feel what you feel, why do you think what you think,  Mythos (story-telling) vs. Philos (science),  Philosophia - The love of wisdom,  Philosophy - The academic study of   anything,   Maybe we need philosophy   NOW   more than   EVER,   Philosophy came to be understood more as a way of thinking about questions,  Sometimes you   NEVER   know the answers.

Today in Western Civ. we took notes on Aristotle, plato, and socrates then we talked about how you should not believe everything you see on the internet.

Review

Yesterday in Western Civ. we reviewed the answers that we got for the test. I don't have class today.

Today in Western Civ. we took a test on Ancient Greece government, culture, geography, and military.

Review

Today in Western Civ. we reviewed all the notes that we took in the past few days, and I brought in cookies and vegan bars for faith. Later today i have my last basketball practice of the regular season.

The Greeks - crucible of civilization

Today in Western Civ. We watched a movie called,  The Greeks - crucible of civilization. Greece Founded on art, architecture, war, conflict, and they fought and beat cities much bigger than them. We learned about Cleisthenis, and Athens. Athens had an Acropolis, reading and writing was rarely taught and life expectancy was 15. 2 parts Aristocrats ruled with their power everyone else were commoners who had no part or share in anything. Greece should not be able to produce a great civilization because of its great mountains. Greece divided into many city-states because one ruler could not rule over all, because of the terrain and rough travel. One city-state had power because of their military, everyone in Sparta was bred to be a warrior, with no luxuries. Spartans were ruthless expansions. Spartans were always a threat to Greece, so Cleithenis had to watch out for them. Then there was a liberty Mutual ad. Yesterday in Western Civ we took more notes on Ancient Greek gods and goddesses, and then on how spartans are a warlike civilization, and how effective their navy was because of their special battering ram ships called tireme.

Silence

Today in Western Civ. we had a silence protest in class today. Mr. SchicK was very confused, i was also a little confused. Mr Schick said Maddison looks like a blue tongued Husky. I don't know what else to add to this blog.  Blue Tongue Husky

An Unexamined life is not worth living

Today in Western Civ we had a discussion about God, gods, Santa, and the Tooth fairy. Frankie talked about how Ryan Gosling would end the world by having everyone dress up as Santa, go bald, and have huge beards. We also talked about How Heaven is for real is fake.

Today I missed Western Civ. for a basketball game at AACS.
