Today in Human Geo. we had two shadow students, and we reviewed site and situation. After school I had soccer practice then i watched the end of the girls varsity game against Mercy. They lost 1-3. After I got home I went to Enotria for my grandmother's birthday then i got home and finished math and started this blog.

Site and Situation

Today in Human Geo we learned about "Site and Situation" site is the physical land, mountains, water etc., and situation is where you are in reference to something else like a landmark. For example the site of my house is relatively flat, with a few hills and a pond. The situation of my house is that it is right down the street from FGSC and Burger King and RoFo. Tomorrow I have a home game against Loyola. Today we also had a sub in Human Geography and we learned from a post on Mr. Schick's blog ,which i posted below, Mr. Schick is on a field trip today to D.C. "Site  The second way that geographers describe the location of a place is by site, which is the physical character of a place. Important site characteristics include climate, water sources, topography, soil, vegetation, latitude, and elevation. The combination of physical features gives each place a distinctive character. Site factors have always been essential in selecting locations for settlements, altho

Blogs and Map review

Today in Human Geography Mr. Schick took the time to look over all of our blogs and helped us know what we need to work on, for example he had me add a title to my blogs for now on. After that we went over our maps worksheet. We also learned that Mr. Schick is not going to be here tomorrow, so we will have a substitute teacher because Mr. Schick will be Chaperoning on a field trip to a museum in D.C. On Wednesday, our Jv soccer team will have a home game against Loyola. I wish the best of luck to Mr. Schick on his field trip tomorrow. In class, we reviewed our map worksheet, and my phone went off with an alarm to charge my computer. I did not do amazing on my map worksheet because i did not notice that there was an answer key at the top of the page.
Today in Human Geo. we went over Key Question two, Why is the each point on earth unique . Place - unique location of a feature Regions - area of unique characteristics Spatial Association - how they are related on a map Each place is a unique and similar to other places. The interplay between the uniqueness of each place lies at the heart of geographic questioning about why things are found where they are. Two basic concepts help geographers to explain why every point on earth is in some ways unique place and regions. The difference between the two concepts is partly a matter of scale, a place is a point, whereas a region is an area. Later today I have a soccer practice with my Jv team.
Today in Human geo. we made maps of where we lived and of the world. The Jv soccer team left early for a game. After this we looked up a bunch of peoples houses on the projector. In the beginning we took notes. After school I had soccer then I watched the girls Varsity soccer game vs. NDP.
Today in Human Geography Mr. Schick Let us do homework while he graded our essays. I don’t have enough words yet so I am going to keep writing until I get to One-hundred fifty words. I am still writing, and still writing, and still writing, and listening, and writing, and doing nothing. Mr. Schick told us he does not do this every day. This class is cool. I am bored. I just copy and pasted this to word, and I only have sixty-two words. This is going to take a while. I am still writing, I am still listening. Mr. Schick just answered a phone call. Frankie just left for a doctor’s appointment. I have an away game against Curly later today. Only twenty-eight words to go!!!! I am still writing, I am almost finished writing. Only thirteen more words to go. It is Monday September eighteenth two thousand seventeen.
Today is Saturday September sixteenth and yesterday was Friday. On Friday our Varsity football team played Bel Air's Varsity for the cup, and we won!! Today all of our other teams played, Jv girls soccer, Jv boys soccer, Girls Volleyball Jv and Varsity, and Girls field hockey Jv and Varsity. Only the Varsity games count towards the cup. John Carroll won! 4-2 in Varsity wins. I played in the Jv soccer game, and we lost 2-0. The final game was Varsity soccer and they lost 3-0. In class on Friday we talked about the map of the world and how we are using the wrong one the world is not really how the map shows it. This idea was very surprising to all of us in the class. We have grown up learning, and studying one map and we just learned that it is wrong.
Today in Human Geography, we went over the start of our new unit, called Thinking Geographically. Then we went over a few key questions like How do geographers describe where things are? Why is each point on earth unique? Why are different places similar? Why are some actions unstable? After this we worked on a work sheet where we had to label all regions on a map of the world. Later today I have an away soccer game with my JV Soccer team against Calvert Hall High School. I hope our team does well both today, Friday, and on Saturday against Bel Air High School. We played our game against Calvert Hall and we lost 4-0. They scored 1 in the first half, towards the end of the second half they scored again then we put in our second string and they scored 2 more goals, winning the game by four points total.
