Kiva



Wikipedia says, “Kiva Microfunds is a 501 non-profit organization that allows people to lend money via the Internet to low-income entrepreneurs and students in over 80 countries. Kiva's mission is “to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.” Basically, Kiva is a non- profit organization that allows you to LOAN money to entrepreneurs around the globe. Kiva a charity website that allows you to make your money back, but you are still helping someone in need. The idea of a microfund even won a Nobel peace prize in 2006!
The two potential candidates that I found on Kiva are:

1.) Dewitt from the U.S.

2.) Patricia from the U.S.

They are both from California, Patricia is looking to expand her cosmetic business, and Dewitt is looking to replace his honeybee equipment and colonies that were lost in the Santa Rosa Tubbs fire. Both candidate’s live in a very developed country and state, this affects Patricia by her needing more inventory for all the people that pass through her business. This affects Dewitt by him, because he is trying to help the environment and make a heathier option in a state that is primarily big cities and pollution.

Today in Western Civ. we took more notes from our textbooks.
